Sonic Nomads

At Friendship, a touring festival on a boat organised by the Latvian Association for Performance Art. The boat took artists to Tallinn, Helsinki, Klaipeda, Riga, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Artists were paired to create new collaborative work for the festival.

Sonic Nomads is a collaboration between myself and Cyprian artist Christina Georgiou. I created a series of wearable instruments with which we conducted a participatory performance across the ports on the Baltic.

There were three types of instruments:
* A hood with two oscillators that could be triggered by pressing your head;
* a stethoscope based instrument that was played by wearing it on the throat;
* and a belt with a mellotron (casette tape) style instrument built into it that triggered sound through touch.
